Today’s announcement that the combined Yellow Pages headquarters operation will be in St. Louis is an important one. It keeps 700 ATT jobs here, rather than moving them to Atlanta — and puts us in a great position to attract even more jobs.

The announcement is a significant win for St. Louis. ATT is one of our biggest employers, with 6,500 jobs and the third largest payroll in the City.

Mergers and acquisitions have not always been friendly to St. Louis. So, when ATT purchased Bell South, we went into action to make sure the enterprise understood the benefits of our City, our region, and our state when it came to locating headquarters — and headquarters employees.

We have seen incredible progress in our City in the last five years. If we want to keep the momentum going and take the City’s renaissance to a new level, we need to protect — and expand — our job base.
