The lineup of the summer’s Live on the Levee concerts — the two days of Fair St. Louis and five Fridays and Saturdays of free music and fireworks — is supposed to be a big secret until all the contracts are signed and the marketing materials are ready. The secrecy presupposes that I don’t learn the names of some of the bands and tell them to the first friendly group I meet.
That’s what happened this year when I told the Downtown Residents Association last Tuesday that Cyndi Lauper, Ani DiFranco, Emmylou Harris, and Los Lonely Boys would all likely be here to play the summer concert series.
Since I have already spilled some of the beans, the Celebrate St. Louis people are probably not going to tell me any more names until the official announcement later this month, but I don’t mind telling you that I already know that my own favorite band will not be coming to St. Louis this summer.
Maybe yours will be.
