For many years, St. Louis — first, the City itself; then, the region — has played a central role in automobile manufacture, assembling cars and making their parts. Thousands of St. Louisans still depend on the industry.
Later this evening, I will be on a conference call with the White House as President Barack Obama unveils his plans to reinvigorate the US auto industry.
I will let you know what I learn, and what it might mean for St. Louis.
