If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know that I rarely mention a disaster here - a flood, a heat wave, a cold front - without also mentioning the United Way of Greater St. Louis. That’s because the United Way and the agencies it supports have been ready - with supplies, phones, help, people, organization, vehicles - when the City most needed them.
And it’s not just us. The United Way funds nearly 200 health and human service agencies located throughout a 16-county area in Missouri and Illinois, helping more than a million people in the region.
If you or your company already gave to the United Way (and 214,000 individuals and 2,500 companies did so last year), thanks. If you have not, please do.
The United Way has an ambitious fundraising goal this year: $70 million. Half of the Campaign is finished; only 35 percent of the money has been raised. Campaign Chairman David Farr has sent me a message asking me to encourage you to reach out and help others. I do so wholeheartedly.
The money the United Way raises here, helps us.
The Campaign ends October 31. For more information, contact 314-421-0700 or visit www.stl.unitedway.org.
