One of my duties as Mayor is the selection of the winner(s) of the annual Holiday Card Competition. Choosing among the entries for the top ten designs and then picking the one that will go onto thousands of holiday cards is much tougher than you might expect. The young people of St. Louis are a very creative bunch, and their submissions to the contest each year are uniformly artistic and unique. Yet, mayors sometimes have to make tough decisions.

This blog entry, then, announces the rules of the 2007 Holiday Card Competition.

  • Children (12 or under) in the City of St. Louis may enter

  • Designs should be appropriate for the holiday season, and appropriate for all religions and people

  • Designs should be no larger than 8 ½” x 11” and drawn with crayon, water colors, paints, pencil, ink or color pencil so they can be easily reproduced

  • Art work must be received in the Mayor’s Office no later than Monday, November 26, 2007, for consideration in the contest

  • Entrants should include their name, address, phone number, school, grade, and age

  • Entries will be on display in the City Hall Rotunda and in my office during the holiday season

  • The top ten finalists will be invited to attend a special ceremony in my office

  • The selected design will be reproduced and used as the cover of the Mayor’s 2007 Holiday Card

    Send entries to:
