There were two bumps last week in efforts to make the St. Louis region healthier. Smoke-free indoor air bills in the City and in Wildwood were set aside by legislators — in the City’s case, for a week; in Wildwood’s case, indefinitely. In the meantime, the St. Louis region will continue to deserve its title as one of the friendliest places for smokers in the country — and one of the "most challenging" places for people suffering from asthma.
The delay in the City less worrisome than the one in Wildwood, which seems intractable. City aldermen will meet again tomorrow to vote on the bill. I expect it to pass. I cannot do anything about Wildwood.
