Rollin Stanley, the City’s director of planning and urban design since 2001, will be leaving next month to take a top planning job in suburban Washington, DC. I am very happy for Rollin (and Ann!), and sad to lose them both.
This will be a good match for both Rollin and his new employer. Rollin will bring his urban enthusiasms and creative talents with him; Montgomery Co. will give him a new set of challenges — and pay him a lot more than we can.
I am, obviously, sad that Rollin’s talents will no longer be directly available to the City but hope that he will join us from time to time to celebrate the continuing progress in which he has played a significant part.
Rollin, thanks and good luck!
