How is it possible that the correct officials of the states of Missouri and Illinois have still not had serious talks to resolve issues they have with the new Mississippi River bridge?

The decision by some of the metro region’s largest employers to join forces with local labor leaders to try to break through the bi-state stalemate on the design, financing, and construction of a new bridge is a welcome one. They have the combined heft to budge both of the states’ entrenched transportation departments in the direction of a compromise.

If Doug Yaeger, Doug Albrecht, and Jerry Feldhaus can move the Transportation departments on the two riverbanks even a few feet closer together, we’ll have a new bridge.
