I’ve written about the Anti-Crime Task Force before. It is a specialized police group that targets the worst offenders in the most troubled neighborhoods. An excerpt from a recent report caught my eye. It described the arrest of a young man in a car reported stolen earlier in the same day. The man admitted to the officers that he knew the car was stolen. He had a screwdriver and a revoked operator’s license.
The man was no stranger to the officers who arrested him. Their unit had arrested him before, and he was still on parole for an earlier felony conviction. His record now includes 22 felony arrests, 17 misdemeanor arrests, 5 felony convictions, most of them having to do with stealing cars and other property.
