People in St. Louis are not the only ones bemoaning the state of public education in the country’s urban centers. Oprah Winfrey weighed in on the subject. "I became so frustrated with visiting inner-city schools (in the United States) that I just stopped going," she told Newsweek. "The sense that you need to learn just isn’t there."
A lot has to change in the St. Louis public schools before people like Oprah will be proud to visit them. But, I am convinced it can be done if we have the civic will to put the children first.
