Gov. Jay Nixon recently told KY3’s David Catanese that he had not yet decided whether to sign or veto a bill that would repeal the state’s mandatory motorcycle helmet law. “I’m truly undecided, David, on what I’m going to do on that. Ultimately it comes down to a pretty lonely decision,” the governor said here.
I agree with MoDOT’s Pete Rahn (have I ever written those words before?) that repealing the helmet law will increase motorcycle deaths and healthcare costs. Rahn says that nine out of ten people surveyed by MoDOT support the helmet law.
That doesn’t sound that lonely.
