As if the trucks, front-loaders, and cranes weren’t metrics enough, there’s plenty of other evidence that City development is still going strong.

One way I keep track of the pace is from the monthly revenue generated by the Building Division for things like building, occupancy, and conservation district permits. A memo on my desk from Frank Oswald notes more than a million dollars ($1,020,300.90) in total revenue collected in July 2005. By comparison, building revenues in July 2004 were less than half that total amount ($494,332).
