In an ongoing and interesting discussion, I asked Macy’s executives to consider two things: (1) Reorganizing nationally to place a major division headquarters in St. Louis; (2)Operating a great Macy’s store in downtown St. Louis
Today, we got the good news.
Macy’s announced publicly that a new Midwest division headquartered in St. Louis will operate 110 stores in 9 states, including Famous-Barr, L.S. Ayres, Macy’s, and Kaufmann’s stores in Missouri, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, and four other states.
This decision keeps good corporate jobs here and preserves the City’s long history in the garment trade.
