If you did not make it to Live on the Levee, you missed great music, great fireworks, great food, a great time and me.
I knew (OK, and I hoped) this would be a popular event, but the crowds were even bigger than I anticipated. Missy Slay estimates 60,000 people watched Macy Gray, Collective Soul, Blues Traveler, and some talented local bands.
The Riverfront was the perfect backdrop for a music festival. The crowds were as diverse as the acts. And, thousands of people from throughout the region came Downtown and saw everything that is going on.
It is my hope that what we watched this weekend is just the beginning of a new summertime tradition in St. Louis.
To pay the bills: I want to thank our Celebrate St. Louis partners Downtown Now!, the Downtown St. Louis Partnership, Fair Saint Louis, St. Louis CVC, and the City of St. Louis. And our sponsors The Boeing Company, Budweiser True Music, Nestle’ Purina Pet Care, A.G. Edwards, Des and Mary Ann Lee, Edward Jones, Ford Motor Company, Southwestern Bell, Bank of America, Coca-Cola, First Bank, Laclede’s Landing Merchants Association, Mardi Gras, Inc., and the National Park Service.
If you attended Live on the Levee, I’d like to hear what you thought. If you have ideas for next summer, I’d appreciate those as well. And, of course, additional sponsors are always welcome. Click here to send me an email.
