Litter bugs me. It annoys many of you, too. And there is plenty of litter on our streets.
Over the next few months, I am going to be unveiling some proposals to reduce unsightly litter in our neighborhoods and business districts. In the meantime, why don’t we try to get a headstart on the problem?
It used to be that people took care of their own neighborhoods (Think “scrubby Dutch”). If there was a mess, people cleaned it up. Now more often than not when someone else makes a mess, people call "the City" to clean it up.
That is, of course, part of government’s job. But, if each of us would stop to pick up and discard just one piece of litter a day, our City would be much cleaner . . . much sooner.
Just a thought.
