I-70 through Missouri, the link between here and Kansas City, is one of the nation’s great sports highways.

St. Louis Rams versus Kansas City Chiefs is usually a great game - a preseason staple that wagers the Governor’s Cup and draws on the rivalry between the state’s true capitals. St. Louis Cardinals versus Kansas City Royals contests have been a little lopsided in our favor for the past few years, but the games still simmer with some of the heat from a certain championship series in 1985.

Given these successful rivalries, the chance that Pittsburgh’s Penguins might be considering a move to Kansas City is great news for KC’s fans - and for our own St. Louis Blues’ fans.

I don’t know how likely it is that the Penguins leave Pittsburgh. But to help encourage the move, I’ve already thought of a name for the transported franchise that would let the hockey team keep its alliteration and its Aptenodytes. Who wouldn’t head down I-70 to the Scottrade Center to catch a Friday night face-off between our Blues and the Kansas City King Penguins?
