State senator Harry Kennedy has once again offered a way for people with disabilities to remain self-sufficient. As he has in prior legislative sessions, Harry has proposed some state help for residents who improve handicapped accessibility to their homes. His bill would allow 40 or so eligible owners a year to claim tax credits for up to $2,500 of specific home improvements. This year’s version of the bill would fund the proposed credits with $100,000 from the state’s unused Rebuilding Communities funds.
It is a modest and compassionate bill that deserves serious consideration in the General Assembly this session.
