Jim Cloar came out of one retirement to take on the task of leading the Downtown St. Louis Partnership. St. Louisans should be glad he did. During his tenure, the downtown neighborhood has changed character — adding residents to its more traditional population of daytime workers. Responding to the changes, Jim was a great partner with the City in attracting new retail businesses — shops, stores, cafes, and restaurants — that contributed to downtown’s convenience and vitality. Many of downtown’s most familiar sights — the purple-clad Clean Team members, the yellow-shirted CID Guides, the landscaped flower pots and public spaces — are elements of projects that Jim championed.
Now, Jim has announced his retirement. Again.
We will miss him.
