I recognized about fifty people at the fish fry on Friday. Maybe, it was a hundred. As most St. Louisans know, fish fries are not really about the fish. Or the fry. Many restaurants can do them better. Fish fries are opportunities for us to be together, which is the most compelling reason we live in the City.
There are many sorts of communities in the region. The ones I find most interesting are real city neighborhoods - and the many suburban attempts to recreate them.
A neighborhood is a place in which a face-to-face meeting is the most popular social interaction, and a place in which residents have more in common with each other than they do with others. The City has 79 official neighborhoods, each with its own differences. That's enough for everyone to find the one that suits them best.
