Next month, City voters will be asked to make some common sense decisions about the next local disaster. The November 8th ballot will include a special election that will allow St. Louis to issue up to $13 million in bonds to cover the City’s match for important repairs to some crucial infrastructure: the Mississippi River flood wall; the emergency communications system shared by the police and fire departments; and some major streets and bridges.

Federal and other funds will end up paying much of the total costs of these projects — but a local contribution is necessary to trigger the others’ expenditures.

This is an important vote.
