Fair St. Louis is one of the best times to be in St. Louis. It gathers a crowd determined to have a great day downtown — sightseeing, eating, drinking, watching fireworks, and listening to free music.

I’m looking forward to tonight’s Fair St. Louis performances by Lifehouse and Colbie Caillat, but I’m especially excited about tonight’s headlining band, The Goo Goo Dolls. I’ll be somewhere near the Budweiser Stage for their 8 pm show.

The Goo Goo Dolls have had a long career, most notably marked by songs appearing on various forgettable movies’ soundtracks. If you are like me, you are more likely to remember the song "Iris" than its accompanying movie, City of Angels. Most recently, their single "Before It’s Too Late" appears in the new Transformers movie and is already heating up the airwaves. I’ll likely skip the movie, but I look forward to hearing the song in person tonight.
