According to SLATE director Michael Holmes, you have until the end of next month to take advantage of a new program that will provide free technology education to Missourians who are looking for jobs.

So far (about a month into the program), about 10,000 people statewide have applied to receive one of the 24,750 “Elevate America” vouchers for e-learning and certification in various Microsoft programs and platforms.

This seems like a good idea. Free training in new skills can only make you a stronger candidate for a job.

For more information, call the SLATE Missouri Career Center at 314 589-8000 or use the state’s Web portal at www.mo.gov. (Both SLATE and the St. Louis Public Library have computers you can use.)
