I agree with something in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The newspaper said recently that a study of the new Mississippi River bridge that will be conducted by the East-West Gateway Council of Governments should be a "neutral analysis."
Here is where we are: Illinois is against tolls on a new bridge. Missouri is against building a coupler to an existing bridge, the "half a bridge" option as the Post’s writer put it.
Instead of taking a side, I have purposefully stayed neutral so that I can work with both states as we try to find middle ground.
If it wants to remain credible, East-West Gateway should do the same.
