It is my intention to sign BB 67, which was passed by the Board of Aldermen this morning.

The bill, which was sponsored by cat-owning Alderwoman Lyda Krewson, will allow well-behaved dogs to dine with their human companions on the outdoor patios and at sidewalk cafes of willing restaurants in most parts of the City.

St. Louis thus becomes the first municipality in Missouri to take advantage of a new state law, for which I lobbied and which Gov. Matt Blunt intends to sign today, that allows a local option for doggy dining.

I first asked MayorSlay.com readers last March to let me know if you wanted this. More than a thousand of you responded that you did.

Take your dog out to dinner in the City to celebrate!

UPDATE: Event emcee Charlie Brennan has invited me to be at the Boathouse "Paddle With Your Pooch" races on Sunday in Forest Park to sign the bill "ceremonially".
