From some development notes put on my desk over the weekend by Barb Geisman:
Civil Design, Inc., a 20-worker company, is moving to Soulard from Clayton; Middendorf Meat is spending $5 million to expand its operations on North Broadway; and Classic Metal Craft, a new business that makes and sells ornamental iron, is opening on S. Vandeventer.
Good Works, a popular furniture store in U City, is working with the SLDC to complete a business development loan package to help underwrite a new downtown branch, in Bankers Lofts. OfficeMax is opening its second City location: a space in Loughborough Commons.
The Spark Agency, a prominent local advertising agency (formerly located at 1881 Pine Street), has moved into new quarters: a historic office space at 1220 S. 6th Street and a warehouse facility in the St. Louis Marketplace property on Manchester. As the Marketplace transitions from an under-occupied retail center to a combination retail/warehouse/manufacturing mixed-use facility, many companies are finding opportunities for expansion and relocation. Across Manchester from the Marketplace, the new Restaurant Depot is nearing completion.
