The City continues to make measurable progress in our war against dangerous lead paint. As frequent readers know, the City’s program is proactive — making homes and apartments lead-safe, without waiting until children get sick.
At a recent CityView, the Building Division offered the following data:
Last fiscal year, City crews and contractors made 208 contaminated housing units lead safe. And inspectors designated another 2,000 units to be lead safe. Overall, nearly 5,000 housing units have been designated lead safe since we started our initiative.
On top of that, nearly 75,000 homes and apartments inspected in Housing Conservation Districts have been designated as having no visible signs of lead hazards.
