City and county agencies with the same goals have announced a partnership that will help regional businesses identify skilled worked, train new employees, and take advantage of incentives to hire individuals with barriers to employment.

The agreement between the City's St. Louis Agency of Training and Employment and the county's Department of Human Services aims to enhance available services and reduce duplicated efforts.

The county's Gene Gorden noted that joint and coordinated efforts between the agencies would help people looking for jobs. The City's Michael Holmes pointed out that the agreement made good budget sense and helped both agencies coordinate their efforts with Missouri Department of Workforce Development. Director Holmes said that businesses and employees would see "one team."

For those in the City and county looking for signs of what we can do together, this is a positive development.
