No one wants to sit for very long in the dark, or the cold, or the heat waiting for the power to go back on.
That’s why today’s announcement by Ameren that the regional utility company plans to make a new investment - nearly $45 million over the next three years - in the City’s electrical infrastructure is such good news.
After our experiences during the past year, we now know what havoc storms can wreak on aging systems. Relying on repair crews - however responsive, dedicated and competent - as a primary mechanism is much less desirable than preventing outages in the first place.
A more reliable power infrastructure is a major and happy announcement.
