Home ownership is important. Several new developments in North St. Louis strive to make such ownership affordable.
Alderwoman Bennice Jones King and the CDA, working with the Henderson Partnership, have kicked off the construction of six new homes in the (21st Ward) Penrose neighborhood. The first home at 4470 Lee Avenue will feature three bedrooms, two baths, and an attached two car garage. The homes will be available at prices of approximately $155,000 to buyers meeting HUD’s affordability criteria.
And in Alderman Jeffrey Boyd’s 22nd Ward, the Hamilton Heights Neighborhood Association working with builder Jerry Meyer, has begun construction on the first of six new single family homes in the 5500 block of Palm Place. In addition, excavation has begun for the first three (of nine) modular homes in the 5500 block of Wells Avenue. Sales prices for the homes range from $119,000 to approximately $129,000, and all buyers must meet HUD or Affordable Housing Commission affordability criteria.
