From the Police Department:

In advance of Senator Barack Obama's rally under the Gateway Arch on Saturday, October 18th, the Metropolitan Police Department is advising the public of street closings, transportation alternatives and security procedures.

Beginning at 5:00am, Leonor K. Sullivan will be closed from Poplar Street to Washington Avenue. It will remain closed until the rally concludes. Memorial Drive will also be closed intermittently to handle crowds.

In an effort to ease traffic congestion, those planning to attend the rally are encouraged to use alternative methods of transportation. MetroLink is anticipating higher than usual ridership and will be adjusting service accordingly.

Those attending the rally are advised to pack light, as all bags and personal belongings will be checked. All attendees should also be aware that they will be screened with hand-held metal detectors.
