From Gail Compton:

City residents seeking a cool respite from the heat can jump under a water sprinkler or visit the city’s eight swimming pools for relief. All city pools will have extended hours during the heat wave. Pools will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. from today through the duration of the heat warning.

The city’s Recreation Division operates three outdoor and five indoor pools. Outdoor pools are: Chambers, Compton at Franklin; Marquette, 4025 Minnesota; and Fairground Park, Grand at Natural Bridge. They will close for the season on Sept. 2.

Indoor pools are: Cherokee Center, 3200 South Jefferson; 12th and Park Center, 1410 South Tucker; West End Center, 5250 Enright at Union; Tandy Center, 4206 W. Kennerly and Wohl Center, 1515 North Kingshighway. Indoor pools are open all year.
