Soccer Times is reporting that Major League Soccer will announce its sixteenth franchise next month. Philadephia and St. Louis are the two finalists.
According to the article, both possible markets have issues remaining (Philadelphia still needs legislative approval for a publicly funded stadium; St. Louis still needs a stronger ownership group).
“Both are markets MLS has long coveted and it is likely whichever ownership\stadium situation works itself out first will earn the franchise,” opines ST writer Robert Wagman.
Mayor Francis Slay is an avid soccer fan.
