From a smart intern:

On Sept. 27, Clayco Inc. and Weaver Steel lifted the final beam for Solae's new global corporate headquarters in the Center of Research, Technology and Entrepreneurial Expertise (CORTEX) in midtown St. Louis.

The 30-foot steel beam was signed by representatives from Solae, Clayco, Cannon Design and other construction team members before being lifted 60 feet to the top of the building frame. The building is scheduled for completion in spring 2008.

Clayco is the developer and design-build contractor for the 165,000-square-foot headquarters building. Designed by Cannon Design, the Solae facility will combine the impressiveness of a corporate headquarters with high-tech lab space. It will include 70,000 square feet of office space, 80,000 square feet of research and development laboratories, and a 15,000-square-foot pilot plant.
