A car has crashed into a traffic signal at the intersection of Skinker Boulevard and Clayton Road, causing substantial damage to the traffic controller that regulates signals at the intersection.
Since the Saturday night crash, the traffic signals at Skinker and Clayton have been set to flashing red in all directions while City Streets crews work through the night to make necessary repairs. Because of the severity of the damage, it is likely to take several days to complete the work.
More than 4,000 cars travel this intersection each hour during rush periods. The City encourages drivers to use alternate routes.
In order to best accommodate traffic, St. Louis Metropolitan Police will direct traffic at the Clayton and Skinker intersection during morning and evening rush hours.
