Mayor Francis G. Slay will present the Mayor's Spirit of St. Louis Award to Boxes of St. Louis Inc., a premier point-of-purchase display and graphic retail packaging manufacturer, at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010.
Established in 1977 by owners Michael W. Patton, President and CEO, and Greg Wiese, Vice-President, the Boxes Inc. team consists of 150 employees and continues to grow. The company's facility on Knox Ave. consists of 95,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space and also is the corporate headquarters. The company's display and fulfillment subsidiary, Mid-America Display, operates at 4900 Manchester Avenue and recently completed a multimillion-dollar expansion that increased the facility to 170,000 square feet.
Mid-America Display's attention-getting displays are designed and produced in-house for clients that include Coca-Cola, Miller Brewing, Valvoline Oil, and AMC Movie Theatres. The point-of-purchase displays are located in most major retail outlets such as Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVS, and most major grocery chains located across the country.
The Mayor's Spirit of St. Louis Award recognizes businesses that make major expansions or improvements to their existing locations, open or relocate to the City, and certain major City projects. The Spirit Award program is administered by the St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC), the economic development agency for the City of St. Louis.
