The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis recently celebrated its 90th anniversary as one of the area’s effective regional advocacy and social service agencies. More than a thousand civic, religious, business, and political leaders attended the annual dinner in the grand ballroom of the Millennium Hotel.

In this photo by Gentry W. Trotter are (left to right) Mayor Joseph L. Adams of University City; Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon; St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay; Mayor Alvin L. Parks, Jr., East St. Louis; and Rev. Everett R. Thomas, Mayor, City of Northwoods.

The St. Louis UL chapter has the nation’s only five-star unit. This past summer, Mayor Slay was also the official host of the National Urban League’s Conference, which was held Downtown.
