While reviewing a news account of the City’s public school teacher of the year, MayorSlay.com noticed that the estimable Pamela Denise Williams, a 5th grade teacher at Mark Twain Elementary School, had previously taught at Mann Elementary.

Besides being hugely impressed at Ms. Williams’ accomplishments, we wondered which of her assignments had been at the school with the more common name.

We checked.

According to the US Department of Education, there are 57 public elementary schools across the country named for educator Horace Mann, and 53 for author Twain.

Congratulations to Ms. Williams. Someone ought to name a school after her, too.
