It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we, the "Finance & Accounting Employees" of Lambert-St. Louis International Airport/Airport Authority, make the following announcement:

Kenneth L. Below departed this life on May 24, 2008. Kenneth was born in Houston, Mississippi on November 5, 1954, the eldest of two children (his sister Lisa) born to the blessed union of Mildred and Sammie Below. Kenneth received all of his education in the City of St. Louis. He was a 1969 graduate of Blessed Sacrament Catholic School. Kenneth graduated from Christian Brothers College (CBC) High School in 1973. Kenneth received his Bachelors of Arts degree in 1977 from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Kenneth received his Masters in Finance in 1992 from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri. Kenneth worked as a Budget Analyst for McDonnell-Douglas Corporation (now Boeing) for several years before leaving to pursue opportunities in Orlando, Florida as a Financial Systems Manager for Martin-Marietta, now Lockheed Martin. He returned to St. Louis in 1994 to become the Chief Financial Officer for the St. Louis Lambert Airport where he served until his death. Kenneth made a substantial contribution to the political, civic and social communities in St. Louis. Kenneth served as the Treasurer for Freeman Bosley, Jr.’s campaign for Clerk of the Circuit Court for the City of St. Louis and as the Treasurer for The Gateway to St. Louis Fund (a not for profit philanthropy entity promoting the economic development of St. Louis). Kenneth served as the financial officer of several other political and philanthropic organizations. Most recently he served as Chairman of the St. Louis Grand Jury. Kenneth loved his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, serving as Polemarch of the undergraduate Beta Nu Chapter while attending several local, regional and international meetings. He was a life member of this fraternity. Kenneth is survived by his mother Mildred Below, his sister Lisa Below, many family members and friends. Services for Kenneth will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at AUSTIN LAYNE Renaissance Chapel, 7302 West Florissant, St. Louis, Missouri. Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m., services begin at 9:30 with interment immediately following.
