Gov. Jay Nixon issued the following statement today on the eve of the national and Missouri observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day:

"Dr. King's life was one that reminds us that change is possible and that seemingly insurmountable obstacles can be overcome through perseverance. As we honor the legacy of Dr. King this year, I encourage Missourians to participate in the King National Day of Service as a way to continue making this a better and stronger country.
