The storm-damaged — and dangerous — shell of the former Switzer Candy Co. building will be removed from Laclede’s Landing next week.

To ensure public safety, St. Louis Board of Public Service President Marjorie Melton, the City’s top engineer, has advised MayorSlay.com that the Eads Bridge will be closed to vehicles from Monday, May 14, 2007, through Wednesday, May 23, 2007.

First Street and Lucas Avenue on Laclede’s Landing will also be closed during the demo. MetroLink will continue to operate from 4:30 am to 9 pm.

Signs and message boards will go up today.
