Cool Down St. Louis, the regional, all-volunteer, energy assistance and public education charity has unveiled its annual "Check On Your Neighbors" project.
At a recent press conference, Cool Down officials said they needed about 250 new and used-working, air-conditioners, and about $50,000 in public donations to help pay electric bills. During the summer months many area seniors, the disabled, and needy households with small sick infants are often in dire need of avoiding heat related deaths and illnesses.
The charity covers 17 Missouri and Illinois counties, including the City of St. Louis and 100 percent of all public donations go toward servicing the needy.
Tax-deductible donations maybe given through: Cool Down St. Louis, c/o UMB Bank, P.O. Box 868, St. Louis, MO 63188, or by calling 314-241-7668.
