Mayor Francis Slay and representatives of the City of St. Louis's Health and Public Safety departments will go door-to-door on Sunday, July 17, to alert city residents about precautions to take in light of predicted extended high temperatures. The region is currently under an Excessive Heat Warning.
Mayor Francis Slay will be in the 4400 block of 39th Street in the City's Dutchtown neighborhood, beginning at 10:30 am.
The extended weather forecast for the region is for very high temperatures and high humidity to continue. This weather poses a health threat for everyone, especially seniors, those who work or live outdoors, and companion animals.
Mayor Slay has directed that the City's Emergency Operations Center be activated on Monday at a level two status. Level two is short of declaring an emergency and is for the purpose of assuring that City resources are efficiently and effectively coordinated. Responses by the City's agencies and departments are being coordinated by Operations Director Sam Dotson.
