An item in this section about the history of Lafayette Park drew several responses from MayorSlay.com readers.

One of the most thought-provoking comments came from Steve Baker, a senior executive in the office of the City Treasurer.

According to Mr. Baker, one feature of Lafayette Park that we failed to mention is its convenience as livestock pasture -- a quality stemming from the site’s still-unrevoked legal status as a public commons.

MayorSlay.com does not vouch for the accuracy of that opinion.
