A nifty bit of writing on today’s St. Louis Post-Dispatch editorial page bids farewell to KWMU weatherman, Ben Abell, who is retiring:

Forecasting was personal for Mr. Abell. "I can’t rule out" was a favorite phrase, as was "I’m going to leave a chance of rain," or "I don’t see temperatures getting past the freezing point." As you listened and looked out your window or your windshield, you understood that what you were getting was a best guess, not a mortal lock, and there was comfort in that.

Fair skies, Ben Abell, with high ceilings and unlimited visibility. We can’t rule out the chance we’ll miss you.

For now, you can read the whole editorial here.
