Mayor Geng Xia, Mayor of the Quingdao China Municipal People’s Government, and St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, exchange gifts of the locally produced and world renowned beers from their respective cities at an official meeting at City Hall on Friday, September 21.

More than a dozen officials from Quingdao accompanied Mayor Xia to St. Louis, including Zhiguo Jin, Vice Chairman & President, Tsingtao Brewery Company. Joining Mr. Jin was Martin Cargas, a senior executive with Anheuser-Busch Companies.

Quingdao and St. Louis enjoy a close relationship as “Friendly Cooperative Cities” - an agreement signed by both Mayor Xia and Mayor Slay during an official visit to Quingdao in September 2004.

Quingdao, in addition to being home of China’s most famous brewing company, Tsingtao Breweries (in which St. Louis based Anheuser-Busch Companies has a significant equity investment), will also host the sailing events for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games being hosted by the People’s Republic of China.
